Why You Should Avoid Drinking Lots Of Milk

Walther Willett, M.D., Ph.D., the second most-cited scientist in all of clinical medicine and the head of nutrition of Harvard’s School of Public Health flies in the face of ‘up-to-date’ advice from the United States Department of Agriculture, which recommends three glasses of milk a day.
This advice, says Willett, however is not based on strict scientific evidence.
Contrary to popular belief milk does not reduce fracture risk. In fact, according to the Nurses’ Health Study dairy may increase risk of fracture by 50 percent. Vitamin D appears to be much more important than calcium in preventing fractures.
Countries with the lowest rate of dairy and calcium consumption (like those in Africa and Asia) have the lowest rates of osteoporosis.
Research reveals that higher intakes of both calcium and dairy products may increase a man’s risk of prostrate cancer by 30 to 50 percent. High intake of dairy products increases the insulin-like growth factor, a known cancer promoter.
About 75 percent of the world’s population is genetically unable to properly digest milk and other dairy products – a problem called lactose intolerance.
Besides all that, it has been proven that milk does not improve sports performance.
Dairy products are full of saturated fat and clearly linked to heart disease.
Dairy mammals (which includes human beings) stop producing the enzymes needed to property digest and metabolize milk after they have been weaned. Scientific research shows that our bodies are not made to digest milk on a regular basis. Instead, most scientists agree, it is better for us to get our calcium, potassium, protein and fats from other food sources, like whole plant foods, vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds and seaweed.
It is suggested that you eliminate all dairy foods such as milk, cheese, yoghurt and ice cream, from your diet for two weeks and see if you feel better. There may be a remarkable improvement in sinuses, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, energy and weight. Then try eating dairy food again and notice if there is any difference.
