Stress Busters

A lecturer asked the audience, how heavy is a glass of water?
The answers ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, “The weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.
One minute is not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. It’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”
He continued, “And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later the burden becomes too heave to be able to carry on.”
Here are some simple but fun solutions that will help you to break the cycle of stress:
* Accept that some days you’re the pigeon, and some days you are the statue. There are some things you can’t change, so take your focus off them.
* Keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. This is easier said than done. Slowing down your speech and deep breathing is always a great help.
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because you won’t have a leg to stand on.
* Nobody cares if you can’t dance just get up and dance. A lot of unnecessary stress is caused through procrastinating.
* When everything’s coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane. See if you can change lanes, or adopt a different attitude.
* Birthdays are good for you. Plan something different on your birthday and take your mind off the problem.
* Take time out to pat the dog, or stroke the cat. Everyone needs to be loved from time to time. You will be amazed what a pat on the shoulder, or hand, can do for someone else. Give someone you love a hug.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once. Stop hitting on yourself over those mistakes you made. We all make them.
* Learn the art of breathing deeply from your diaphragm instead of your chest. It helps you calm down and will give you time to think.
* We could learn a lot from crayons… Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box. Appreciate other peoples’ individuality and maybe they will appreciate yours.
* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour. Life is not a straight line from A to Z. How boring that would be.
A major key in dealing with life and its numerous corners of stress, is to take time out to laugh occasionally. It’s the best stress reliever of all, next to getting a good night’s sleep.
