    Lyn,

This post was brought to my attention. I work for Brent Coon & Associates, a law firm that is involved in the current oil spill litigation and other litigation against BP in the past. I’m not sure whether or not the use of Brent Coon’s name is coincidental or not, but this email was certainly not generated by anyone associated with our firm. Obviously, it’s disconcerting that a scam email is making its way around the internet using our name (whether intentionally or not). Please contact me at your convenience. I’m hoping you have more information about the origin of the emails.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Matt, this was an email that just ended up in my inbox. I live in Vanuatu, and no where near the affected area. This is why I chose to put it out on the social networks, to alert people. I agree, the use of your comapny’s name is most disconcerting. I have no way of knowing the origin of the email – I no longer have it on my computer. If it arrives again I will forward it to you. Perhaps others who read this, could also forward a copy to you. These people need to be caught.
