Fake Nurse Charged

A 56 year-old Connecticut woman, from Norwalk, Betty. A Lichtenstein, has been charged with impersonating a nurse, while working in a doctor’s office.

In order to give credibility to her fake qualifications, Lichtenstein staged a ‘Nurse of the Year’ ceremony, under the  fictitious organization, ‘Connecticut Nursing Association’. She invited her employer, plus members of the staff and footed the entire charade herself, at a cost of over $2000.

“Dr. Gerald Weiss believed Lichtenstein was a registered nurse, especially after she was named the Connecticut Nursing Association’s “Nurse of the Year” in 2008,” said prosecutors.

Inspectors of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, (MFCU) began investigating Lichtenstein, after a complaint was received from a patient. Lichtenstein could face up to five years imprisonment if convicted of the reckless endangerment and criminal impersonation charges.

Nurses have been frequently known to be under investigation, for wrongly removing a birth-control device, giving the wrong patient an abortion tablet, to murdering patients.

Perhaps one of the strangest incidents though, was when Judith Lovelace, an ex-prison nurse was sued for damages, after her ‘tender ministrations’ provoked a fifty-five hour erection. The ex-con said the extended painful erection has left him ‘irreparably injured’.

Even more scary though, than a nurse falsely claiming she is qualified, would be if doctors were able to attain bogus certificates from shonky universities.
