Companies That Will Drive The World Economy

24/7Wall Street says America has lost its world manufacturing lead to China. The magazine then developed a list of industries in which American corporations are leaders. They chose those most likely industries to develop products and services which will allow global GDP growth to continue.
The magazine says the critical needs of the 21st Century is:
- The ability to organize and control information
- The ability to cure disease
- The ability to control the efficient use and distribution of natural resources
- The ability to educate broad groups of people
- The ability to transport people and cargo.
These are the companies the magazine believe are essential to the success of the American economy. Note the big companies such as GM, PetroChina and BP, Exxon Mobile, Wal-Mart and At&T are not listed because they have parallel companies outside America.
1. .Microsoft – plays a significant role in the way enterprises and governments around the world are organized and operate, with its software at the heart of most of the world’s computers.
2. Google – this giant company, with the world’s largest search engine, aims to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
3. Pfizer – the largest pharmaceutical company in sales in 2010, plus the company has the largest R&D department in the pharmaceutical industry.
4. IBM – a universal supplier of software, sales, service and consultancy for every one of the world’s large business sectors. This includes Internet security, cloud computing, database management and enterprise mainframe computers, service-oriented architecture and information on demand.
5. Boeing – the world’s largest plane maker, as well as being the leading military and space contractor.
6. Lockheed Martin –the largest military contractor in the world, beside being the key contributor to American space technology.
7. Intel – The world’s largest chipmaker, as well as building semiconductors which power the majority of the world’s PCs and servers. The company also owns McAfee, the world’s biggest Internet security company.
8. General Electric – the largest provider of sophisticated energy infrastructure, including wind turbines, hydro-electric power, nuclear energy and solar power. It also has one of the largest water management systems in the world, medical devices, plus jet engines and low emission engines.
9. Cisco – its hardware includes routers, wireless and security systems used by Internet service providers around the world. They are leaders in core virtualization software and video communications
10. Monsanto – produces technology which seeks to maximize crops yields
