Anyone Care To Dance?

Across the tropical north of Australia, you will find stately dancing brolgas, a large member of the crane family.
Aboriginal legend has it that a young woman, named Brolga loved to dance and tribes traveled long distances to watch her. When a particular tribe became jealous, wanting Brolga all to themselves, a fight broke out. Suddenly a whirlwind appeared and swallowed Brolga up.
When the dust cleared Brolga was nowhere to be seen. Instead a magnificent grey bird with long legs, stepped out from behind a tree, dancing the same dances Brolga had performed. Brolga’s tribe were so happy, as they believed that Brolga’s spirit was in the grey bird. The felt that Brolga could never again be stolen away from them.
Scientists have not yet agreed as to the real reason for the dance, which is not limited to just the breeding season. Ornithologists believe the dance is most likely used to strengthen bonds between couples, as once brolgas mate, they partner for life.
