A Doctors Face You Would Trust

Michael Jackson’s personal physician and cardiologist, Dr Conrad Murray, has a winning smile that most people would be happy to trust.

The investigation into Michael Jackson’s death however, took a dramatic turn when authorities raided Dr Murray’s offices.  The death of the King of Pop appears to be building into a manslaughter case.

Murray is facing the potential charges of ‘manslaughter’, ‘prescribing to an addict’, ‘excessive prescribing’, ‘excess treatment or prescribing’ and ‘unprofessional conduct’. However there is some doubt as to whether or not Murray will  face manslaughter charges, even though he has admitted to administering the powerful anesthetic propfol toJackson. Manslaughter charges require proof that there was either a reckless action leading to death, or grievous bodily harm.

Some of the toxicology results are still not available and the District Attorney’s office has not yet begun its formal investigation.

The drug propfol can suppress breathing and lower the heart rate and blood pressure and should only be administered by a trained expert, who remains monitoring the patient. This is a procedure that is normally only performed in a hospital operating room.

The bright cherry smile of Dr Murray however hides a very different person. He is a long time debt-evader and like his boss, Jackson, who paid Murray $150,000 a month, was drowning in debt. Murray is on the verge of losing his expensive Las Vegas house.

Since Jackson’s death, numerous law suits and court judgements have come to light against Murray, including tax liens filed against him between 1993 and 2003. There are counts of non-payment of child support, as well as a student loan of $71,000 still outstanding from Murray’s medical school days.

Murray was suspended from a Houston hospital for allegedly not completing medical records in a timely fashion. He was employed by Jackson in 2006 after Murray attended a minor undisclosed illness of one of Jackson’s children.

Murray was charged with domestic violence in 1994. The case went to trial and Murray was ultimately acquitted.
